Kokrajhar(Assam), May 15 : The United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL) has demanded a thorough CBI enquiry into large scale corrupt practices in different departments in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration by BPF elected representatives and officials involved.
The party emphasized for bringing good governance through imposition of Governor’s Rule in the council as tenure of BPF ruled BTC came to end on April 27 last.
Speaking the reporters here on Friday at the party office, Secretary of UPPL Raju Kumar Narzary and Secretary of IT cell of UPPL Kamal Azad have alleged that BPF elected representatives and officials in BTC administration have been indulging large scale of corrupt practices during their reign and demanded a strict and thorough CBI enquiry against the large scale scams in BTC administration in their past 15 years of rule .They said that the BPF elected representatives were involved in scams amounting to nearly 100 crores in different departments and development schemes which were meant for the common public’s welfare and development in the council region.
The party leaders informed that party submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi on May 12 and lodged a complaint with BTC administrator against the corrupt practices and put demand for a strict CBI enquiry into the corruption in the BTAD administration.
The UPPL leaders alleged that there are over Rs. 75 crores large scale scams in the name of transportation for carrying charge of BTAD Gaon Panchayat Samabai Samiti Limited association workers under national food security mission in BTAD districts as the association members are yet to get arrears of 42 months till date .
Narzary and Azad said that people from the council districts are deprived of their proper distribution and rights under public distribution system (PDS) during their 15 years of reign in BTC council as BTC administration could not fulfill hopes and aspirations of the people in the region.
They have put allegations of multi crore scams in different departments like Panchayat & Rural Development, illegal appointments in BTC administration without following proper guidelines and procedures while appointing employees.
They have urged upon the Governor of Assam to take strict steps to check scams in different departments in the council in order to have a good governance and corruption free environment in the region.
The UPPL while welcoming the governor’s rule in BTAD administration,said that the governor’s rule is paving the way for a healthy administration in the region.
The party leaders appealed all sections of people to maintain strict social distancing during the nationwide lockdown to combat the Coronavirus outbreak in the state.
