Kokrajhar (Assam) ,July 22: Assam Social welfare minister and local MLA of Kokrajhar East LAC,Pramila Rani Brahma has demanded more steps from the state government to check flood affected situation in Kokrajhar district as well adjoining areas in the region.
At-least three villages like Banglajhora,West Banglajhora and Kashibari have been evacuated by SDRF team as Saralbhanga river washed away the villages on Wednesday morning. A relief camp has been set up at Banglajhora. The Saralbhanga River eroded the Banargaon-Ramfalbill Road at Taktara due to over flow of River waters.
Several rivers like Saralbhanga,Gaurang Rivers have seen flow above the danger level and submersed on several villages due to incessant rainfall since a few days ago in the greater North Patgaon area and Taktara village under Dotma revenue circle in the district. The river water and flash floods have devastated in large number of areas in the district.
Several leaders from different parties and orgnaisations including Assam Social welfare minister Brahma,BPF leader and party’s candidate for Banargaon constituency Rajib Brahma,UPPL candidate Rabiram Brahma,UPPL leader and Debargaon candidate Buddadeva Mushahary visited the flood affected areas at Banglajhora area and Taktara along the Saralbhanga River near Banargaon and took stock about the flood affected situations.
Brahma interacted with flood affected citizens and farmers in the district. She said that the flood situation in the Kokrajhar district has been grimed dye to incessant rainfall since few days.She informed that several hectares of crops land were damaged and river banks have been eroded in the floods.She said that state government has been taking stern measures to protect and check the flood affected situations in the region.
She has urged the state government to take bold initiative and properly flood protection steps in the district.She has assured that state government and water resources department have been stepping to control the flood affected situation with immediate measures.
