Guwahati( Assam), Mar 30 : 2 persons were killed and 34 injured when a bus ferrying home guards from North Lakhimpur to Hailakandi fell into a 90 feet deep gorge in Bandarkhal in Dima Hasao .
The home guards were on their way to Hailakandi for poll duty for the Assam Assembly elections.
According to police the bus with registration number AS07FC0097 fell into a deep gorge .
The bus driver Papu Bhuyan and a home guard Hemkanta Gogoi died on the spot while two others are stated to be in a serious condition .
Meanwhile , Assam Police has sent their heartfelt condolences to the family of Assam Home Guard Shri Hem Kanta Gogoi & the Driver of the bus on election duty, which met with an accident at Bandarkhal, Dima Hasao.
All the Injured personnel are being treated at SMCH Silchar.
