Guwahati(Assam), Mar 24 : The state on Tuesday registered 52 new Covid cases taking the active cases tally to 347.
All the 52 new cases were detected after conducting 14,236 tests.
Among the new cases Kamrup-Metro reported 38 cases, Udalguri 4, and Nagaon, Sonitpur and Tinsukia reported two cases each.
Meanwhile, A Covid patient died after taking the Covid-19 vaccine at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital in Upper Assam.
According to official sources , Sankar Prasad Khound, who was given the vaccine, died of Covid-19 on Tuesday . He was a resident of Atila Gaon .
With this , the death toll in the state has gone up to 1,102 and the state tally is 2,18,058.
and the recoveries stand at 2,15,262 .
It is feared that the second wave of Covid is also spreading in Assam along with several states across India.
With Assembly elections knocking at the door in the state and rallies and meetings being held without following the basic protocols it is likely to spread the virus further .
