Guwahati (Assam), July 22 : There is no respite as far as increase of Covid cases are concerned in the state .On Tuesday , a total of 1680 new Covid cases were detected in the state out of which 570 cases are from Guwahati city alone.
Jorhat registered 167 cases while Cachar registered 159 cases .
With this the total number of cases in the state so far has shot up to 26772.
A total of 938 patients were discharged today from various hospitals after full recovery during the day.
The day also saw the death of 6 critically ill Covid patients who succumbed to their infections taking the death toll to 64 .
The patients have been identified as Rekha Dutta (63) from Darrang; Mona Das (51) from Dibrugarh; Sister Florence (74) from Kamrup Metro; Mukiv Ali (65) from Kamrup Rural; Ramesh Ch Dekha (67) from Kamrup Rural and Bulin Begum (44) from Kamrup Metro.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on Tuesday late night , “📌Alert ~ 1680 new #COVID19 patients detected in Assam on July 21.Guwahati reported 570 cases.( Jorhat167,Cachar 159)With 18152 tests carried out in 24 hours, our positivity rate is 9.2%. ”
