Guwahati(Assam), July 8 : A total of 5 critically ill Covid patients died in the state within a span of 12 hours today .
While four patients died at the ICU of Guwahati Medical College Hospital , one passed away in Tezpur Medical College hospital .
According to official sources , the patients who passed away this moring at the Guwahati Medical College hospital ICU were Safikul Rehaman aged 60 years from Hidyatpur area of Guwahati; Utpal Kumar Chaliha aged 75 years from Khalipara area in Dispur; Hariprasad Mondal aged 68 years from Lalganesh area; Romoni Majumdar aged 60 years from Patharkuchi are in Barpeta .
All the patients were undergoing treatment at Covid ICU of Guwahati Medical College and succumbed to their critical infections early this morning between 2 am to 5 am . All the patients were on invasive ventilation ,had severe pneumonia, urosepsis and septic shock .
In Tejpur Medical College , a young Covid patient identified as Jitendra Prasad aged 30 years from Majbat, Udalguri and admitted yesterday , with features of Septicemia and shock and with history of herbal medication succumbed to Covid -19 .
Condoling the deaths, Assam Health Minister , Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted , ” My heartfelt condolences to families and relatives of four more victims of #COVID19. These are trying times, and we all must adhere to guidelines being repeatedly given – wearing mask, social distance and not going out unless very important.”
