Guwahati (Assam) , July 24 : A total of 1047 new Covid cases were detected in the state today out of which 219 are from Guwahati city alone .
With this , the total number of cases have gone up to 28,791. However , the active cases stand at 9368.
The day also saw the death of 4 critically ill Covid patients .The 4 patients have been identified as 75- year -old BL Ajit Saria from Kamrup Metro , 43 -year -old Baldev Singh hailing from Jammu & Kashmir , 40 -year -old Samim Ahmed from Karimganj and 53 -year -old Dilip Kr Roy from Kokrajhar .
On Thursday a total of 1349 patients were discharged after full recovery .
State Health Minister said ,another #COVID19 Care Center, with capacity of 850 beds, has been set up at Nehru Stadium, here . It shall soon become functional.
The Minister tweeted , “📌 Alert ~ 1047 new #COVID19 cases detected in Assam on July 23, with 219 in Guwahati City alone. With 19,000 + tests in 24 hrs, our positivity rate is a tiny 5.25%. ”
