Khanapara(Meghalaya) June 7 : The Physics and Computer Science Departments of USTM hosted an outreach program called “Empowering Villages through Organic Farming” at the Community Hall and Holy Heart School in Upper Jorbill to mark World Environment Day2023.
The program drew local villagers, students, and faculty members who participated with enthusiasm.
The program’s objective was to educate and inspire local communities about organic farming and its advantages for food security and environmental protection. The main attraction of the event was the planting and distribution of saplings to encourage afforestation and green practices in the region.
Participants demonstrated their commitment to a healthier and better future by joining in the activity. The saplings were chosen to suit the local climate and ecosystems, ensuring their growth and long-term impact.
More than 25 students from both departments participated in this outreach program along with the faculty members. Through this program, the organizers are trying to create a lasting effect on the lives of the villagers and support a greener and more sustainable future for all.
