Shillong ( Meghalaya), July 20 : The state government issued a COVID-19 notice today due to an increase in Covid infection cases.
The state today recorded 102 new cases of Covid-19, the first time since February this year .
This brings the overall number of COVID-19 cases to 94,511, and the active cases stand at 358.
According to an official statement ,34 new cases were reported in East Khasi Hills, 1 in East Garo Hills, 5 in North Garo Hills, 12 in Ri-Bhoi, 8 in South West Garo Hills, 36 in West Garo Hills and 6 in West Jaiñtia Hills.
7 recoveries were reported in East Khasi Hills, 2 in North Garo Hills, 6 in West Garo Hills and 1 in West Jaiñtia Hills.
A total of 43 patients are hospitalized across the state.
Due to the sudden surge in new cases this month the state government has once again directed residents to wear facemasks in public and to maintain physical distancing.
Eligible citizens have also been urged to get their Covid vaccine booster shots. Free jabs are being offered until September 30.
According to an order issued by C V D Diengdoh, secretary for the home department, free precautionary booster shots are advised for all eligible residents, and until September 30 special immunization clinics will be performed in large office buildings, industrial facilities, interstate bus terminals, schools, and colleges.
