Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 25: In a shocking revelation that had left the residents of Shillong rattled, a 42-year-old driver was arrested on Friday for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing multiple women in the city. Tamdorlang Risaw, a resident of Nongrah Block II, was apprehended by the Mawsynram Police Station, in a coordinated operation.
The incidents, which date back to May 2025, involved the driver of a Black Bolero bearing registration number ML05P 7884. According to the FIRs registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station, the victims reported that the driver would perform obscene acts in public view, causing distress and harassment.
The most recent incident occurred on October 13, 2025, when a woman was confronted by the accused near Loreto Convent, Shillong. The driver allegedly stopped his vehicle, performed obscene acts, and even stalked and wrongfully restrained the woman.
The police swung into action after two FIRs were registered, and a special team was formed to track down the accused. The Java-coloured Bolero used in the offences was also recovered during the operation.
The accused will be produced before the competent court for further legal proceedings. The arrest has brought relief to the residents of Shillong, who were living in fear of the “pervert in Bolero.” The police are working to ensure justice is served and that the accused is held accountable for his actions.
