Shillong, Oct 1: Amid an unprecedented security measure, the capital city of Shillong is gearing up to welcome Union home minister Amit Shah’s two days programme from October 4 and 5.
Security forces have intensified patrolling in the nook and corner of the city and the authorities are all set to manage the traffic challenge during the 2-days visit of Amit Shah.
“We are planning to ensure smooth traffic management on October 4 and 5 when the Union home minister will be visiting Shillong. In the same breath, we are keeping in mind the possible inconvenience of the common people during this period,” said a senior police official.
According to information, the authorities on October 3 would issue a set of traffic advisories to ensure smooth traffic movement in the capital city in view of the VVIP visit. Around 1,500 personnel are set to be engaged during the VVIP visit.
Notably, Amit Shah is scheduled to present the Presidential Colours to the force during a formal ceremony in Shillong.
The Presidential Colours are among the highest honours that can be conferred on a police or military organisation in recognition of distinguished service.
