Shillong, June 29 :Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday reviewed sweeping reforms for the Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills Autonomous District Councils, pushing both bodies to modernize fast and fix long-standing gaps in governance.

Leading the review, Sangma said the state had asked JHADC and GHADC to work together on institutional and administrative changes, and both councils have now started the process.
The reform drive will tighten service rules, overhaul financial management, cut red tape, and accelerate digitisation to make the ADCs more transparent and responsive under the Sixth Schedule.
