Kohima (Nagaland), Oct 18 : Renowned musicians from across the state on Saturday gathered at the 13th Music Awards of Nagaland 2021 where 18 state musicians were felicitated with a trophy after a strenuous search.
The award function held at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), here .
Hosted by VLCC Femina Miss India Nagaland 2020, Zuchobeni Tungoe, the award show which is regarded as one of its best in felicitating the Naga musicians within beyond the state also saw the ever versatile Methaneilie Jutakhrie receiving the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
Categorized in different genres, the 13th Music Awards of Nagaland 2021 winners were JV Keli-o & TS Geneses for “Maya” (Best EDM Song), Temsumongba Ozukum for “Lijaba” in Best Music Fusion Song, ZT Slingshot for Believe bagging the award in Gospel Song, while Molungnen Longkumer took away the award in the category for Best Gospel Song (Hindi/Local Dialects) for his song “Tamang Akangshiang”.Nentong Konyak for his song “KoJ” (King of Jungle) was honoured in the category of best Rap/Hiphop Song followed by Temsu Clover for Dumplings the sad walking away with the Best Pop Song in Solo category.
The other followers to receive the award included Meyisanen Lemtur featuring J Polland and Temsu Clover for “Years Gone By” in best Pop song (Duo/Group), Kumzuk T Jamir, for “Teimla”, Bozio Neinu for “Lighhouse” in the category of best rock song (Alt/Indie), About Us for “Gimme Gimme” in best rock song (Metal/Heavy) and Kumzuk T Jamir bagging another award for his song “Teimla” as “Song of the Year”.
In the category of best music video, video director, producer, sound engineer lyricist/songwriter and best upcoming artiste/band were bagged by Z World featuring J Polland for “Die a Legend”, Kohdi Jings for “Die a Legend’, Moyuchen K Yanthan for “Gimme Gimme” Tongs kichu for “I’m on your side” by Trance Effect, Sunup A Jamir for “Guilty” and “Orange” respectively.
Meanwhile, special guest of the musical evening, Minister, Higher & Technical Education and also Tribal Affairs, Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, while lauding the organizers and well wishers of the 13th Music Awards of Nagaland 2021, also reminded that from its “historic background” and since “time immemorial”, the Nagas have been known all over for their taste in music including art and thus God has blessed the Nagas in order to scale to a greater heights to “glory” in the field of music.
He said that though music industry in Nagaland is still in its initial stage, a commitment beyond one’s immediate necessity that is “consistent” and many a time “resistant” could make the musician far more better than in any of the South East Asian musicians.
He hoped that with humbleness, without fear of prejudices, nepotism and hypocrisy, could go beyond through persistency.
