Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 27: In a recent incident, a man allegedly trespassed into a church in Mawlynnong village, East Khasi Hills district, and shouted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at the altar, hurting the religious sentiments of the community. The Meghalaya Police have filed a case against the individual, who shared the incident on social media.
The incident occurred on Thursday, a day after Christmas, and was condemned by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. The CM stated that the government will take strict action to prevent anyone from creating social, religious, and communal disharmony.
An investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the culprit. Social activist Angela Rangad filed a police complaint seeking legal action against the individual. The police have registered a case at Pynursla police station against the person, identified as Akash Sagar on Instagram.
