Tura ( Meghalaya), Dec 19 : A State level party meeting was held at the West Garo Hills District Party Office in Tura today in the presence of Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Leader and Leader of Opposition, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mukul Sangma.
During the meeting, Dr. Mukul highlighted Meghalaya TMC’s vision to empower the people of Meghalaya and briefed about the recently launched WE Card under the Meghalaya Financial Inclusion for Women Empowerment Scheme (MFI WE).
Briefing the Meghalaya TMC leaders who were gathered, Dr. Mukul Sangma said, *”As a political party, it is our responsibility and binding obligation to carry out the promises made in the manifesto once we receive the mandate to form the government and it is the spirit of democracy.”* He also added, *“It is an unconditional scheme and has been curated keeping in mind the heavy losses that the state economy suffered due to the pandemic, alongside misgovernance and several scams perpetrated by the current NPP-led MDA government.”*
All aspiring candidates across Garo Hills, sitting MLAs, Ex-MLAs, MDCs, Ex-MDCs, Block Presidents, District Presidents, District Coordinators and District Convenors were present at the event.
It is to note that the unique scheme announced by Meghalaya TMC has already garnered 30,000+ registrations in less than a week. The flagship scheme assures a guaranteed income support of Rs.1000 every month (12,000 annually) to one woman in each household in the state.
Furthermore, the party will embark upon a door-to-door campaign and set up registration desks in every constituencies soon. Meghalaya TMC will reach out to all the household leaving no stones unturned to ensure through this scheme the life of every woman in the state of Meghalaya gets uplifted.
