Shillong(Meghalaya), Oct 26 : Meghalaya kicked off their campaign in the Sub-Junior Boys National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 2) with a thrilling 6-1 victory over hosts Chhattisgarh in Narainpur. The team, coached by Dapmon Tariang, went into the break trailing 0-4 but staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, adding two more goals to their tally.
Macstar Nongkynrih, Marbiang Marwein (who scored a brace), and Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej scored in the first half, while Iaishanborlang Khongjee netted a brace in the second half. Chhattisgarh’s lone goal came in the 72nd minute. Marbiang Marwein was adjudged Player of the Match.
With this convincing win, Meghalaya tops Group C after the first round. The team will face Andhra Pradesh next on Tuesday at 8:30 am, looking to maintain their momentum in the tournament.
