Shillong ( Meghalaya), Oct 3 : The state today recorded a total of 423 new cases with 339 cases reported from East Khasi Hills Distrct alone .
Two Covid deaths were reported today from East Khasi Hills District today taking the death toll in the state to 54 .
The number of active cases in the state has now gone up to 2,083 .
Among the new cases today , 339 cases were detected in East Khasi Hills out of which 337 are civilians and 2 from the Armed Forces . Ri Bhoi district reported 30 new cases , West Garo Hills 19 cases , East Jaintia Hills reported 11 new cases , South West Khasi Hills reported 10 new cases , West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills reported 6 new cases while East Garo Hills reported 2 new cases .
Since , 29 people were tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and Saturday at Shilliang Jashar Village under Pynursla C&RD Block and in the interest of health of general public to prevent against any possible spread of COVID-19 and in order to facilitate contact tracing, testing and isolation the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued today has declared the above mentioned village as a containment area with immediate effect so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
The order state that no person shall be allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, besides all inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes. All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall remain closed and all private institutions located within the boundary of the containment area to remain closed.Gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms including social, political, religious, economic activities are not allowed.
