Shillong (Meghalaya), April 22: The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) organized a send-off ceremony for the state team that will participate in the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men’s National Football Championship 2025. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
The send-off ceremony, held at the SSA Stadium in Polo, was attended by senior MFA members, including President Hamletson Dohling, General Secretary Sunesh Syiem, Vice-President Cliff Nongrum, and Executive Member Freddy Kharpran. Dohling wished the team success, expressing hope that they would bring the trophy home.
Meghalaya has been placed in Group A alongside Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, and Rajasthan. The team, led by coach Bobby L Nongbet, will kick off their campaign against Jammu and Kashmir on April 27.
A total of 36 teams have been divided into eight groups, with the top team from each group advancing to the next stage. Delhi is the defending champion, having won the inaugural edition in May 2024. The MFA is optimistic about the team’s performance in the championship.
