Imphal (Manipur), May 25: Amid an uneasy calm over the hostage crisis, the Naga Peoples Union on Monday have demanded immediate and safe release of six Naga civilians kidnapped on around 12 days back in the state.
They Naga bodies have raised the demand at a massive rally in Imphal where they submitted a memorandum to the state government. The massive gathering started from Tribal Market at New Checkon and marched towards the Konung Mamang crossing.
With banners and placards sloganeering, “Immediate and Safe Release of 6 Naga Hostages,” “Immediate Intervention by the Government”, “Justice and Protection for Innocent Civilians,” and “Stop Violence Against Innocent People,” the protesters could not proceed beyond the crossing point because of the interference by the security forces. However, a delegation of 8 members went to Chief Minister’s Bungalow where they submitted a memorandum to the government.
