Shillong ( Meghalaya), July 23 : A tree plantation program was held today, July 23, 2025, at the premises of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Mawdiangdiang, here . The event was organized by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with the Forest Department.
Governor of Meghalaya Chandrashekhar H Vijaya Shankar, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Speaker Thomas A Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, and members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly participated in the plantation program.
Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijaya Shankar emphasized the importance of giving priority to native species during plantations. “Meghalaya is blessed with an abundance of medicinal plants and therefore it is imperative to conserve and protect these medicinal plants especially the endangered species,” he added.
