Shillong (Meghalaya), July 18: A dramatic sequence unfolded at Polo Bazar today when an abandoned black bag found around 2 pm at Polo Bazar area led to the involvement of security and narcotics teams. Nijimu Fithu, age 24, from Kenuozou Colony, Kohima Sadar District, Nagaland, claimed ownership of the bag shortly after it was discovered. Despite Fithu’s claim, precautionary measures were taken by the Bomb Disposal Team to ensure no threat was posed by the bag’s contents.
A thorough inspection by the team led to the recovery of packages suspected to contain ganja inside the bag. Following this discovery, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) was notified to take over further investigation and necessary action in accordance with the law.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem was quoted saying, “We are taking this incident very seriously. The ANTF is now leading the investigation to determine the nature and origin of the suspected ganja found in the bag. We will ensure that due process is followed and that all angles are probed to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident.”
The incident has triggered probes into the suspected narcotics found in the bag, with authorities now looking into the matter for potential legal proceedings. Further investigation is expected to reveal more details about the case and the involvement of the claimant, Nijimu Fithu.
