Shillong (Meghalaya), July 11: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid the foundation stone for several key projects in Meghalaya, marking a significant milestone for the state’s development.
The projects include the Mawkhanu International Football Stadium at a cost of ₹752 crores, Redevelopment of Umiam Lake and Development of MICE Infrastructure, each valued at ₹99.99 crores. Additionally, the projects include Working Women’s Hostel at Shillong, Tura, Byrnihat, and Jowai, IICA Regional Campus, and CBIC Integrated Complex.
During the event, Sitharaman also virtually inaugurated 72 digital libraries in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and other dignitaries. These initiatives aim to boost infrastructure, sports, women’s empowerment, education, and economic growth in Meghalaya. The Union Finance Minister’s visit underscores the Centre’s commitment to the state’s development and progress.
