Shillong (Meghalaya) , Dec 21 : The first direct flight from Shillong to Delhi was inaugurated by Transport Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar and MLA G. B. Lyngdoh and officials.
This flight will connect Meghalaya better with the National Capital and will bring major boost to the State’s tourism .
Transport Minister Dhar travelled from Delhi to Umroi Airport in the first-ever direct flight between Delhi and Shillong.
The minister said that today was a historic day from the state and now onwards the locals will have a direct flight connecting Delhi .
The fight will operate under partnership with Flybig and will operate the direct flight between Delhi-Shillong and Shillong-Delhi.
Initially the direct flight will operate twice a week and will operate from Jan 4 next year and seeing the response will slowly be made operational daily .
Flybig will operate a 75 seater Bombardier Q400 charter for the direct flight.
