Shillong ( Meghalaya ), April 19 : A review meeting on Covid situation in the state decided today that all schools will remain closed from Tuesday for the next 14 days till May 4 , in the Shillong area.
However , the MBOSE examinations would continue unaffected. The govt would also monitor the situation in other districts and take decisions accordingly .
The meeting also decided that all Govt. & Pvt. offices will function with 50% capacity and the gpvt will close its doors to tourists from outside the state from April 23 . However, local tourism would continue. The tourist locations which have high tourist footfall will also remain closed .
The time frame for the validity of RT-PCR tests have been reduced from 72 to 48 hrs.
However ,hotels and eateries will remain open with 50% capacity and shops will remain open with due adherence to protocols.
The meeting also decided that an aggressive vaccination drive will also be carried out in the state and requested all citizens to get themselves vaccinated.
An official statement said that all these measures and restrictions are being implemented to avoid another lockdown in the state and sought the cooperation of all to avoid the eventuality of another lockdown.
