Shillong (Meghalaya), April 16 : State Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma briefed the media on State’s preparedness and also shared updates regarding the #Covid19 tests and results so far today.
He said that there are 29,084 PPEs currently in stock.10,000 have reached Guwahati and 15,000 on air. In the next 24 hours we should have 50,000 PPEs.
CM Conrad also informed that a total 552 samples have been collected so far out of which 306 results are out. The state so far has 7 positive cases (including the deceased individual) and 299 have been tested negative and are currently awaiting 246 test results.
He informed that the state is testing up to 150 samples/day and the test facility at NEIGRIHMS has been increased to almost 100 tests/day and with the help of Assam Govt., 50 more tests are done in Assam. The state is also working on procuring rapid test kits available in different parts of the world.
Sangma said that farming-related activities will be allowed under very strict supervision to ensure the need to ensure that the sowing season and the harvest of the farmers should not be affected because of #Covid19.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we are able to tackle the situation. There are challenges but what is important is to be able to rectify and improve on the different shortcomings and challenges that we face.
