Shillong (Meghalaya), June 18 : In order to safeguard the State from an uncontrollable surge in Covid- 19 , the containment measures issued on June 11, will be reinstated throughout the State from June 21 until further orders.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the Deputy Commissioners are empowered to take decisions based on local situation.

He also appealed to citizens of the state to get vaccinated.
‘Vaccination is picking up pace in the State but we must continue our efforts and encourage others to take the jab. No one is safe until everyone is safe. Let’s get vaccinated,’ Sangma added .
650 new Covid -19 cases were detected in the state and 9 more patients succumbed to their infections on Friday taking the death toll to 771.
