Shillong ( Meghalaya), Dec 19 : In two separate incidents on Sunday , BSF Meghalaya seized cosmetics and clothing items worth rupees 38 lakhs from bordering areas of East Khasi Hills foiling the attempts of miscreants to smuggle them to Bangladesh.
The consignments were being carried as head load by miscreants near International boundary. On seeing BSF troops approaching towards them, miscreants ran towards Bangladesh side taking the benefit of unfenced border and left behind the consignment.
The seized items have been handed over to customs office Pynursla for further investigation and legal action.
PRO BSF Meghalaya stated that during the year BSF Meghalaya has seized cosmetics items worth rupees 1.6 crores and clothing items worth Rs 1.5 crore due to enhanced alertness and vigil by BSF troops.
