Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 26: A tragic incident unfolded in East Khasi Hills District when the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered the body of a fisherman who had gone missing in the Umkhein River at Jaroit village. The SDRF team, led by Sub Inspector DK Kharbih, was deployed to the scene after receiving a request for assistance from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills.
According to officials, the team conducted a search operation using a barbed wire and diving inside the water. After an hour-long search, the body was recovered by SDRF jawans T Khongstia and I Lapasam. The deceased has been identified as Kellshon Shadap, a resident of Pdengshnong, Nonghali, and the body has been handed over to the police.
The recovery brings closure to the family and loved ones of the deceased, who had been searching for him since he went missing while fishing in the river.
