Shillong (Meghalaya), April 01: A swift operation by the Special Cell EKH team led to the arrest of three bike thieves in the early hours of the morning from the 101 Area in Shillong. Timus Warbah (30), Babar Mawblei (26), and Synraplang Makri (23), all from Jirang Ri Bhoi, were caught red-handed with a stolen KTM bike.
The police also seized an Alto car used by the thieves to scout for bikes parked on the roadside. Further investigation revealed that the gang had connections with buyers in Bangladesh, with two additional suspects, Meaibor Kharryjja (26) from Sohlap Shella and Bakordor Rapmai (24) from Jatap Shella, arrested for their involvement in handing over stolen bikes to buyers across the border.
This breakthrough marks a significant victory for the Shillong police, who have been cracking down on bike theft cases in the city. The accused are currently in police custody, facing charges for their crimes.
