Shillong (Meghalaya), July 28 : BJP vice president Bernard Marak who was brought to Tura from Delhi this afternoon by a team of Meghalaya police was produced before the CJM court immediately after conducting medical examination Tura Civil hospital.
The West Garo Hills police had sought 14-custody of Marak whose trouble had mounted after filing of a fresh FIR under POCSO act after medical examination revealed that one of the minors rescued from the farmhouse , Rimpu Bagan has been sexually assaulted.
However , the chief Judicial magistrate granted 8 days police custody .
West Garo Hills SP Vivenkananda Singh Rathore said that one of the minors rescued on Friday last from the raids at Bernard Marak’s farmhouse has been found to be sexually assaulted.
He further added that police have sufficient evidence against Marak and his accomplice some of whom are on the run.
Police also said that they have recovered explosive materials and traditional arms from the farmhouse of state BJP vice -president and a former militant .
He was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday and handed over to Meghalaya police, on the charge of operating a ‘brothel’ at his farmhouse.
The state BJP leader had been on the run following a police raid at his farmhouse from where six minors were rescued and 73 people were arrested on July 23 .
