Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 17 : Five more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,240 .
West Garo Hills recorded 2 deaths while 1 each was reported from East Khasi Hills , West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills .
3 out of the 5 patients who succumbed to their infections were not vaccinated .

Meanwhile , 252 fresh Covid cases were detected on Tuesday out which 105 cases were from East Khasi Hills.
417 patients were also discharged today after full recovery .
The active cases now stand at 3, 591.
