Shillong, Sep 27: Shillong College dominated the 13th Inter-College Karate Tournament 2025, winning five of six titles at the one-day championship held at Shillong College yesterday.
The tournament, organised by the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association in collaboration with the Sports Development Cell of Shillong College and supported by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, drew 30 karatekas from 11 institutions. The event was also used as a talent scouting platform for the 39th National Games 2027 to be hosted by Meghalaya.
National champion Gideon Tympuin led the charge for Shillong College with double gold in men’s kata and kumite, while Rebeka Nongspung completed a treble with gold in women’s kata, kumite and team kumite.
St Anthony’s College denied a clean sweep by winning the men’s team kumite title. Shillong College were crowned team champions in both categories.
