Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 26 : In an effort to facilitate investment and further streamline power generation in the State, the cabinet today approved the “Meghalaya Power Policy 2024”.
The provision for pumped storage project has been included in the scope of the policy, apart from generating power through solar and other green initiatives.
The policy also underlines intervention to attract investment in the power sector.
The overall aim of the Power Policy 2024 is to empower the State through sustainable, inclusive and efficient energy development.
The broad objective of the policy is to formulate State Power Trading Company, encourage and promote development of renewal energy, to develop power projects through hydro, thermal, pumped storage, solar, wind etc., in a sustainable manner and to improve the efficiency of the operation of the existing power plants and the generation utility.
