Shillong ( Meghalaya), Dec 23 : There has been a recent surge in COVID cases observed in countries outside India. Although there is no reason for any panic but, in view of the festive season, it is hereby advised that the general public may adhere to COVID appropriate behavior by wearing mask in crowded indoor places and adopt good hand hygiene practices.
In an advisory , the state govt has urged travelers who have come from outside of the country are advised to carefully monitor their symptoms for at least 7 days from their time of arrival in to the State. On any suspicion of COVID symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, they are encouraged to immediate test themselves for COVID in any of the testing facilities across the State.
Meanwhile ,IMA has also issued an advisory on Impending Covid Outbreak India as the country reported 145 new cases in the last 24 hours out of which four cases are the new China variant – BF.7.
In view of the sudden surge of COVID cases in multiple countries, the Indian Medical Association alerts and appeals Indian public to follow COVID appropriate behavior with immediate effect.
As per the available reports, nearly 5.37 lakhs new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours from major countries like the USA, Japan, South Korea, France and Brazil. India has reported 145 new cases in the last 24 hours out of which four cases are the new China variant – BF.7.
IMA has issued an advisory to its state and local branches to take necessary preparatory steps in case of a COVID outbreak in their areas. IMA also appeals to all its members to work proactively as done in the past to combat the outbreak.
As of now, the situation is not alarming and therefore there is no need to panic. Prevention is better than cure. Therefore, all are advised to take necessary steps to overcome the impending COVID outbreak.
