Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 31 : The Covid -19 situation in the state is slowly improving with 408 new cases reported in the past 24 hours .
According to a press statement , 408 fresh cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours out which 272 were reported from East Khasi Hills District .

However , the fatalities still continue with 14 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours out of which 9 were from East Khasi Hills , 2 from Ri – Bhoi District and 1 each from South West Garo Hills , South West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills .
A total of 977 patients who were undergoing treatment were released today after recovery .
The active cases now stand at 6913 after 28107 patients recovered . The death toll so far stands at 578 .
