Kokrajhar ( Assam), June 12 :Two young girls were found hanging from a tree in a village in Abhaikuti area near Dheerlbil under Kokrajhar police station on Friday evening.
They have been identified as of Robita Rabha (12) and Somaina Rabha (11) belonging to a same family of Abhaikuti under Kokrajhar PS.
Locals suspect that the young girls were first murdered and later hanged on a tree .
Locals also said the two sisters were missing since Friday afternoon.
Family members of the girls also suspect that miscreants first raped them and later hung them on a tree with a rope.
Assam minister UG Brahma and MLA Lawrence Islary strongly condemned the incident and urged district administration to take strict action and nab the culprits .
All Rabha Students Union ,All Rabha Women’s Council, Rabha Development Council have condemned the incident and said that it was pre -planned to hang them after raping .
All Rabha Students Union (ARSU) leader Romeo Lokbok strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrests of the culprits and also demanded compensation of 10 lakh each to the victim families ,
BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro,MLA Lawrence Islary, Kokrajhar district committee of ABSU president Kripesh Daimary,BTC MCLA Doneswar Goyary, chairperson of Kokrajhar child welfare committee Malati Rani Narzary also condemned the incident and demanded early arrest of culprits.
”A case has been registered. A preliminary investigation suggested that the two girls suspectedly ended their lives. We will be able to tell after receiving the post-mortem reports,” a police officer said.
