Kokrajhar (Assam),Aug 27: The state police in Chirang has intensified search operations against illegally arms in the past few weeks . In one more operation the police recovered illegal arms arms and ammunition at Ladanguri-Sobhaijhar Road under Bijni police station.
According to Police,based of a specific input, a search operation was conducted by Chirang police led by additional superintendent of police (headquarters), Prakash Medhi, SDPO on early morning from 4 am onwards today in jungle areas located in the western side of Ladanguri-Sobaijhar PWD road in Uttarpara village under Bijni police station.
During the search operation, several arms and ammunition were recovered which were kept hidden under the ground.
The arms and ammunition recovered today a factory made (AK series) rifle along with two magazines, a factory made (AK Series) rifle with one magazine and 174 rounds of live ammunition .
“Police for the past few months has been taking stern steps against illegal arms in the region and accordingly recovered the huge consignment of arms”, said a senior police officer.
