Guwahati (Assam), July 12 : A total of 535 fresh Covid cases were detected on Saturday out which 410 cases were from Guwahati city alone .
With this the total number of cases in the state has gone up to 16071 .
Saturday also saw two seriously ill Covid patients succumbing to their infections at the ICU of Guwahati Medical College Hospital here.
The government also extended lockdown that was implemented in the Kamrup Metropolitan district — which includes Guwahati city — till July 19 to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The goverment is confident that one more week of lockdown is enough to bring the Covid situation in the city under control where cases are increasing abnormally .
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted , “📌Alert ~ 535 new #COVID ve+ cases in Assam, 410 in Guwahati alone.Hold on to care, precautions & hope a little longer. We shall win over #COVID together!”
