Kokrajhar (Assam), Aug 1: : Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) president and ex-BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary today took a dig at BPF ‘s coalition partner BJP for diminishing the position of the regional parties including BPF for their political gain in the state.
He has affirmed that he wouldn’t allow saffron party to create such kind of a situation in the BTC region.
He appeared confident of winning majority seats in the BTC council elections stating that people from all walks of life are coming out to extend their support to the BPF .He said that his party was working for all round development and welfare of all sections of the communities since it’s inception in the region.
On the alliance with BJP, Mohilary said that BPF has been maintaining alliance with BJP at Dispur and Delhi,but BJP itself is maintaining distancing from BPF in BTC region.He accused the BJP of trying to take advanced political sphere in the council, has putting their own party candidates in 26 constituencies.
Mohilary while admitting party’s alliance with BJP in BTC said that BPF had given two seats to BJP through the alliance,yet BJP had put up their own candidates.
“BJP will score zero in the council as people are not supporting the saffron party”, Mohilary added.
Mohilary claimed that his party would win 25 seats in the 40 -member assembly in Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly and forming the next BTC council.
Mohilary said that his party is fully prepared to contest whenever the state election decides to hold the elections .
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the long continuation of the election model code of conduct in the BTC region and urged that the model code of conduct to be removed from the council or to conduct council election at the earliest to pave the way for healthy democracy.
Notably,BTC election was postponed for indefinite period in the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic across the state which was scheduled to be held on April 4.
Mohilary also offered his Namaj today at Kokrajhar Jame masjid on the occasion of Eid-ul -Juha.
He was accompanied by ex-BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary amidst maintaining of social distance due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
Mohilary extended his Eid greetings to all Islam followers on the occasion and expressed his hope that the Eid celebration would create deep peace and development amongst all sections of the communities across the state.
Various parties ,organisations including Asssm Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, UPPL president Pramod Boro,ABSU president Dipen Boro have extended Eid-uz-Juha greetings to all Islam followers across the state.
Minister Brahma while extending Eid greetings said that the Eid is a religious occasion through which a bond of love and affection comes amongst the human beings .
