Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Dec 9: Unknown miscreants attacked the convoy of UPPL chief Pramod Boro and Baukhungri constituency candidate Pratibha Brahma today evening at Nayekgaon in Kokrajhar district just few hours ahead of phase II BTC council elections.
According to information available , five vehicles were damaged in the attack.
UPPL suspect the hand BPF party members behind the attack .
Both Boro and Brahma were part of the convoy .
The numbers of the damaged vehicles are AS-01BN-0003,A S01JC-0236.
UPPL president Pramod Boro said that it was a planned ambush by BPF party members and out of utter frustration , BPF targeted on the convoy .
He alleged that BPF was the responsible for the attack on his convoy where party candidate Prathiba Brahma was also present.
Boro has demanded the arrest of involved culprits without any delay.
“Deploy massive security vigil to conduct the council elections in free and fair manner during the phase II in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts on Thursday”, Boro said.
He said that he would go on hunger strike if culprits were not arrested within 24 hours.
Pramod Boro added that BPF has failed to work for the common masses in their 17 years of rule in BTAD and accordingly BPF planned the ambush on UPPL party leaders.
He urged the state government and election commission to take incident very seriously .
He also appealed to all sections of the society to participate in the second phase of BTC council elections.
ABSU president Dipen Boro has also condemned the attack on UPPL party chief and demanded strict security vigil in the districts.
Additional DGP GP Singh rushed to Kokrajhar this evening and took stock about incident.
Singh has also assured that the council elections will be conducted in free and fair environment in the council areas and police will take stern steps against the incident and the culprits would not be spared.
On other hand,BPF has denied the allegations levelled against them . Senior BPF leaders Doneswar Goyary and Rajib Brahma have condemned the incident and termed It as unfortunate just ahead the second phase of council elections.
“BPF is a peace loving party and we cannot behind such unwanted activities in the region”, BPF leaders said.
