Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Dec 5: The massive election campaigning for the first phase of Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) for 21 constituencies in Udalguri and Baksa districts ended this evening at 5 pm .
The BTC council elections would be conducted on Dec 7 & Dec 12 for 40 member house of the Bodoland Territorial Council in two phases. The counting would be held on Dec 12 .
In the first phase, the elections will be held for 21 constituencies in Baksa(11) and Udalguri (10).
In the second phase on Dec 12 , elections will held in 19 constituencies including Kokrajhar(12) and Chirang(7) respectively.
On the last day of the campaigning,UPPL president Pramod Boro addressed an election campaign at Koklabari .
He said that this time his UPPL has massive support from all sections of the society to form the people’s democratic government in BTC administration.
He was confident that UPPL would emerge victorious in over 30 seats in the 40 – member house of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly.
Lok Sabha MP and president of Gana Suraksha Party Naba Kumar Sarania also addressed his last election campaign at Salbari in Baksa district today.
He said that people’s mandate would be for the GSP in the council elections and claimed that his party would be winning majority of the seats in the council elections.
On Saturday, Batadrava MLA and senior BJP leader Angoorlata Deka addressed an election rally at Kashipara under Fakiragram constituency in Kokrajhar district for the party candidate Arup Kumar Dey.
Deka,who who also a noted actress campaigned with her songs and dance to woo the common masses in the rural areas.
MLA Deka said BJP is winning the BTC council elections to bring parivartan and development.
She alleged that BPF did not take any proper developmental projects during the the last three tenures .
She said that BPF has totally failed to work for the citizens in their 17 year rule in the BTAD administration.
She said that BJP is committed to work for all round development of the people.
On the other hand, BPF candidate for Banargaon constituency Rajib Brahma addressed an election campaign at Patgaon area in support for his candidature in Kokrajhar district.
He was optimistic that BPF would be winning majority of the seats in the council elections.
