Guwahati(Assam), Mar 1: Over 300 people gathered on Saturday night, to pay tribute to 28 Guwahati Food Awards winners of 2020 . At the Vivanta by Taj, participating restaurant owners, numerous chefs and dignitaries united to celebrate the exceptional food crafters.
The awards are an initiative aimed at recognizing the best in the city’s food & beverage industry. The contest comprised of more than 200 participants that included various restaurants, cafes, lounge bars, bakeries, catering service providers and fast food eateries amongst others.
The 35 winners rose to the top amongst 250 entries on the basis of predetermined criteria set by the jury panel which included Kashmiri Barkakati Nath, Rachit Saboo, Nathaniel Giri Chaliha and Aabhishek Bedi Varma, a former chef of Taj Group of Hotels, headed by renowned food critic Suresh Hinduja.
The awards night had as its chief guest Noted Singer-Composer Joi Baruah and Suresh Hinduja. A record number of over 2 lakhs people voted for their favourite restaurants through the Guwahati Food Awards website and mobile app.

Piazza won the most coveted ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award, while Kiranshree this year picked up the award for the ‘Best Mithai Shop’. The award for ‘Best Restaurant for Assamese Cuisine’ went to Michinga.
