Kokrajhar ( Assam) ,June 15: Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta today said 2 minor girls in Abhaikuti under Kokrajhar district were raped and murdered and all the accused persons have been arrested within the four days of the incident by special investigation team (SIT) headed by additional SP Kokrajhar Surjeet Singh Panesar.
Speaking to reporters here , Mahanta said that he bodies of the two young girl’s were recovered under mysterious circumstances hanging on a tree on June ,11 last.
He said that a suspected suicide case was reported from Abhaikuti village under Kokrajhar police station on Friday. On getting the information, a team of Kokrajhar police was immediately sent at the spot and the two dead bodies were brought to Kokrajhar for further follow-up action.
Further investigation was carried out scientifically & professionally and on pursuing the clues, 7 persons were nabbed .
A thorough examination of the accused persons unearthed the whole gamut of crime committed by the accused persons.
He said that three prime accused persons who were fully involved in the gang rape and murder of 2 minor girls have confessed to their crime.
He said that human and technical intelligence were instrumental in solving the case within four days.
“The crime scene recreation exercise was also done in presence of magistrate and forensic experts “, DGP Mahanta said.
He said that the girls were raped and later murdered by the accused .
He said that police have arrested seven accused persons,and out of them three were identified as prime accused .
The three prime accused are Muzzaamel Sheik (20),Nashibul Ali Sheik(19) and Farijul Rahman (22).
He said that seven mobile phones,a plastic sheet and several materials were recovered from the spot.
” This case is going to be sent to the first track court and a case has been lodged with Kokrajhar police station , under section 376/376(A),376(DA) “DGP Mahanta added .
Meanwhile, several organisations including All Bodo Students Union, ARSU have demanded stringent punishment to the culprits.
ABSU president Dipen Boro strongly condemned the the brutally rape and murder case.He has demanded that the the justice must be given away to the victim’s family members and accused persons should be punished.
Former Assam cabinet minister Pramila Rani Brahma condemned the incident and demanded punishment to the accused persons.
