Shillong (Meghalaya), May 1: A two-day workshop on “Content and Curriculum Development in the Spirit ofNEP 2020” jointly organized by North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Vidhya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan, and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, New Delhi . The workshop commenced today, with an inspiring inaugural programme at the Mini Golden Jubilee Hall, North-Eastern Hill University, here that marked the culmination of intensive learning and collaboration.
The workshop will focus on imparting knowledge on Content and Curriculum Development in the Spirit of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The workshop was inaugurated today after registration of over 100 participants from various colleges and institutes of Meghalaya.
The inaugural session began with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the distinguished guests, followed by an inaugural address by the chief guest Pawan Tiwari, organising secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra and Chairman’s remarks by Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU.
The chief guest of the program, Pawan Tiwari, organising secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, welcomed the esteemed guests and participants, encouraging them to embark on a journey to equip educators to inculcate critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, communication, and several other 21st century skills through the exploration of alternative pedagogies involving learning by doing, teamwork etc., and through the integration of vocational education. Such an approach is consistent with the spirit of the policy of empowering students and helping them explore their abilities and interests in a holistic manner.
The Chairman of the program, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU delivered the inaugural remarks, highlighted the basic aims, and emphasized the significance of national education policy 2020. He further mentioned its basic objective focusing mainly on two things, one is to lessen the dropouts by ensuring proper infrastructure facilities and the other by providing appropriate training to the teachers.
Marcel Lyngdoh, Research Scholar, Department of Geology, expressed profound gratitude to Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla and Pawan Tiwari for their insightful remarks,as well as all attendees for their participation in the event and to the Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, for the financial support in hosting the workshop.
During the first technical session, Raghunandan gave a lecture titled“Introduction on NEP 2020 – Need for revamping content and curriculum” highlighting the key objectives of the National Education Policy. He concluded by urging young people to actively contribute to the nation’s economy.
