In May 2024, a shocking exposé by local media house revealed the shocking state of neglect and disrespect the monument had endured. The report, “Revellers Turn Historic Tura World War Monument into a Nocturnal Den,” sparked widespread outrage and prompted the Chief Minister to take immediate action.
Within 24 hours, the Chief Minister visited the site and announced a staggering Rs 2 crore allocation for the renovation of the Cenotaph. This move marked a new chapter in the monument’s history, as the community came together to restore it to its former glory.
