Shillong(Meghalaya), Mar 5: After a lull for four days, an incident of violence was reported during curfew hours in the city on Thursday, while curfew was relaxed at many places and mobile internet services were restored in all the six districts where it was withdrawn.
One daily labourer identified as Sanidul Islam (21) from Barpeta, Assam was taken to hospital after being stabbed by four masked men in Mawkhar locality today .
Miscreants hurled stones at a taxi in the Nongmynsong area on the outskirts of the state capital while the night curfew was on and the vehicle was partially damaged in the incident.
Unidentified men attempted to torch a car at the Umsning bypass in Ri-Bhoi district, partially damaging the vehicle. As of now , there is no night curfew in Ri-Bhoi district.
The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has under Section 144 CrPC promulgated Curfew in Shillong agglomeration and its adjoining areas with effect from 9:00 P.M. of 5th March, 2020 to 5:00 A.M. of 6th March 2020 and the areas to be under curfew are whole of Municipal and Cantonment areas, all areas under Mawlai and Mawpat Blocks including their census towns, areas under Mylliem Block from Umshyrpi bridge upto 7 mile Upper Shillong, Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Mawdiangdiang, Diengiong and Siejiong.
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel has arrived in Shillong to assist the State police in maintaining law and order.
