Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 3: Alem Khongwir’s stunning second-half hat-trick powered Mylliem to their first-ever victory in the Shillong Premier League, as they defeated Malki 3-0 in the 15th match of the 2025 season at the SSA Stadium. After a goalless first half, Alem struck in the 55th, 64th, and 70th minutes, showcasing his skill and versatility with a perfect hat-trick – scoring with his left boot, heading in a corner, and finishing with his right foot.
The win marks a significant milestone for Mylliem, who underwent numerous changes in personnel ahead of the season. In contrast, Malki had won their meeting in the First Division 2024 but were unable to replicate their form in the SPL. Despite creating some early chances, neither side could break the deadlock in the first half.
Alem’s clinical finishing changed the game dynamics in the second half, with Remark Kharmalki and Shaibor Nongrum playing crucial roles in Mylliem’s victory. The win has boosted Mylliem’s morale and moved them to fifth place, while Malki slipped into the relegation zone. With this impressive performance, Mylliem will look to build momentum in the league, while Malki will need to regroup and reassess their strategy to avoid relegation.
