Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Nov 2 : The ruling NPP won the Rajabala Assermbly Constituency Assembly seat after the final round of counting .
The counting of votes began this morning .
Abdus Saleh of the NPP polled 11812 votes, while the Congress which had put up Hashina Yasmin Mondal wife of Late MLA Dr. Azad Zaman got 9885 votes and Ashahel D. Shira of the UDP got 7228 votes.
The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Pyniaid Sing Syiem and the United Democratic Party nominee Eugeneson Lyngdoh are comfortably leading over their Congress opponents in the Mawryngkneng and the Mawphlang Assembly seats of Meghalaya.
With this win , the NPP now has 22 seats in the Assembly.
The by-elections were held on Oct 30 in Mawryngkneng, Rajabala, Mawphlang assembly seats in the East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts.
Over 80.86 per cent of the 1,02,695 eligible electorate cast their votes to decide the electoral fate of 13 candidates in the three seats.
