Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 14: In a significant boost to Meghalaya’s tourism and connectivity, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, launched a seaplane demo at Umiam Lake, marking the beginning of a new era in air travel for the state. This initiative is part of the government’s vision to enhance air connectivity and make Meghalaya a premier tourist destination.
The seaplane demo is a crucial step towards realizing the government’s plan to establish Meghalaya as a major hub for air travel in the Northeast. With the extension of the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under the RCS to seaplane operations, the Ministry aims to provide initial support to operators and make seaplane services a regular feature of India’s aviation landscape.
In addition to enhanced air connectivity, plans are underway to establish a 7-star hotel in Meghalaya, which will cater to the growing demand for luxury accommodations in the state. This development is expected to create new job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region.
These developments demonstrate the government’s commitment to promoting tourism and economic growth in Meghalaya, making it an exciting time for visitors and investors alike.
