Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 18 : A dozen Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the state in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,253 .
Eight deaths were reported from East Khai Hills while one case each was recorded in South Garo Hills , West Garo Hills , West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills .

The state saw a marginal decline in new Covid cases with 244 fresh cases detected on Wednesday with East Khasi Hills on the top with 79 cases .
418 patients were also discharged today after recovery .
The active cases now stand at 3,405 .
